TG4 Announced as Sponsor of Best Irish Language Short Award at Kerry International Film Festival
July 14, 2026
Kerry International Film Festival is delighted to announce TG4 as the new sponsor of the Best Irish Language Short Award.
Now in its second year, the award recognises and celebrates the creativity, talent, and storytelling of filmmakers working through the medium of the Irish language. As part of this exciting partnership, Máire Ní Chonláin, Commissioning Editor at TG4, will return as judge for the award, bringing a wealth of experience and a longstanding commitment to supporting Irish-language film and television.
The Best Irish Language Short Award highlights the importance of nurturing and showcasing Irish-language cinema, providing a platform for emerging and established filmmakers to share their work with audiences and industry professionals alike.
Submissions for the award are currently open and will be accepted until 1 August. Filmmakers who have created a short film in Irish are encouraged to submit their work and become part of KIFF 2026 as the festival celebrates the richness and diversity of Irish-language storytelling.
Kerry International Film Festival would like to extend its sincere thanks to everyone at TG4 for their support and partnership. We look forward to working together to champion Irish-language cinema and to recognising outstanding filmmaking talent at KIFF 2026.
