KIFF is excited to announce details of its new ‘all abilities’ submission category.
Eibh Collins, Festival Director and Nicola O’ Sullivan, Head of Marketing both completed the Screen Skills Ireland’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Irish Screen Sector workshop and were inspired to take action in a meaningful way.
The category was thus created for films and filmmakers dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories and the artistic expressions of people with or from people of different abilities and disabilities.
Film/filmmakers must be related to the topic of diverse abilities, such as: autism, deafness, vision loss and blindness, intellectual disability, learning disability, mental health, physical disability, speech and language disorders and other disabilities not specified above.
Films will be judged on the same merit as other submissions, with the standard of storytelling at the core of decision making.
In order to support the viability of making work that is inclusive and diverse the fee to submit has been dramatically reduced to 10 euro (or 9 for Filmfreeway Gold Member). The deadline for submissions is August 23rd 2021.
Features and shorts films of any length or genre are welcome.
